🌴 About the Artist – Karen Copen

Hi, I’m Karen Copen, the artist and founder of Key Largo Gifts—a tropical-inspired online shop filled with exclusive designs created by me and brought to life through sustainable, print-on-demand apparel and gifts.

As a local Key Largo artist, member of Wild Women on the Water and the Art Guild of the Purple Isle, I’ve always believed in blending art, ocean adventure, and environmental purpose. I’m also proud to support Marine Ecology Education at MarineLab, an organization close to my heart.

🎨 My Creative Journey

I studied art on scholarship at the Columbus College of Art and Design, then went on to work as an Art Director at Kersker Advertising, where I collaborated with organizations like The Nature Conservancy, The Memorial Tournament, and Special Olympics—blending fine art and graphic design with mission-driven marketing.

My life has always revolved around creativity, nature, and storytelling, and I bring that love to every product I design.

🌊 Life in the Keys

In 2020, I moved to Key Largo, Florida—my favorite childhood vacation spot and now my permanent home. This is where I find daily inspiration: watching the sunrise light up the mangroves, snorkeling with sea turtles, or diving into coral canyons teeming with parrotfish and starfish.

Whether I’m photographing sea life, exploring shipwrecks, or fishing offshore, I’m in constant awe of the sea’s magic—and I channel that into my work.
